A little History of Qoyllur Ritti

Qoyllur Ritti is a Quechua term that translated means “star of the snow ". According to the belief, the child Jesus disguised of a little shepherd one appeared to an indigenous child called Marianito Mayta. First day: Cusco – Mahuayani

We have to go at 6:00 a.m. from Cusco city to take the bus; which will lead us for the Puerto Maldonado – Cusco road. Towards Tinki (3800 masl) Mahuayani, arriving at 12. Where we will take our lunch. After the rest, we will begin the hiking towards the Mr. Qoyllur Ritti sanctuary in this place we will spend the night. Further we will enjoy to the typical region dances spectacle.

Second day: Qoyllur Ritti sanctuary

We have to wake up at 6:00 a.m. for could observe the sun rise, after we will take the breakfast, then could observe the activities that do the peregrines at the sanctuary.
La misa se realizara en atrio del santuario uno a las (10.00 a.m.) y otro al medio día exclusivo para los “Pabluchas”.el mismo que es colorido.
Later will go at the “alacitas” market, where could see a curious exhibition, in which somebody can buy commodity miniature such as cars, houses, herds, university titles, in all the commodities has to be blessing for the Mr. of Qoyllur Ritti. The missal will be in the sanctuary atrium one at 10:00 a.m. and the other one at 12, exclusive for the “pabluchas”. The same as be coloring. Alter will pass the procession of the Mr. of Tayancani, the virgin and others like civil servants who dance in the sanctuary ceremony. At night after dinner we will enjoy with the “Quema de Castillo”, fireworks all made of Bamboo, the same of enlarge the festivity.

Third day: Qoyllur Ritti Sanctuary – Mahuayani - Cusco

After the spectacular pilgrimage at night, we will wait the sun rise, “the sun rise ceremony” is impressive (7:00 am), alter the breakfast we will descend towards Tayancani for listen the missal at 10:00 am, where we will receive the Mr. Qoyllur Ritti blessing, then take the lunch and after descend to Maguayani where we will take the bus for Cusco city. Ending the visit approx. at 8:00 p.m.
